BH Tank Introduces the “Red Turtle” UL 142 Labeled Double Wall Storage Tanks

Since 1996, BH Tank has been manufacturing welded steel single wall and double wall tanks in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards for automotive and petroleum based applications. BH Tank’s UL products are designed to contain waste oils, fuels, as well as other types of flammable liquids and hazardous chemicals. We maintain ample ready-to-ship inventory of our Red Turtle Double-Wall Tanks to do just that!

Our Red Turtle double wall storage tanks are intended for easy installation and are in accordance with the Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, NFPA 30; the Standard for Installation of Oil Burning Equipment, NFPA 31; and the Automotive and Marine Service Station Code, NFPA 30A. Double Wall Tanks; covered by these requirements are fabricated, inspected and tested for leakage before shipment from the factory as completely assembled vessels.

The Red Turtle double wall storage tanks are UL 142 labeled and are finished with a "Safety Red." Unlike other bench tanks, the Red Turtle roof has a slight sloped ridge with an epoxy-urethane exterior coating that can withstand indoor and outdoor exposure. The Red Turtle tanks are forklift accessible when the tanks are empty. Red Turtle tanks are for aboveground stationary use and are readily available in four standard capacities: 120, 240, 360, and 480 gallons. Red Turtle storage tanks feature the following standard accessories:

• A gauge rod for monitoring the secondary containment tank.



• A 4" threaded fill port with hinged inspection hatch.



• Two (2) 4" threaded vent ports for emergency pressure relief vents on secondary and primary compartments.



• Two (2) 2" FNPT (female national pipe thread) fittings in primary compartment for normal vent and pump outlet



• One (1) 2" FNPT in secondary containment compartment for drain plug.



• Forklift channels to move tank (empty only) and elevate tank 1-1/2" above ground.



• An epoxy-urethane exterior coating. Standard color is “Safety Red.” Other colors are available.

All BH Tank’s UL 142 labeled and approved Double-Wall Tanks have a primary containment storage compartment and a secondary tank. The primary compartment is within an integrated external containment shell, while the secondary tank is designed to contain 110% of the primary tank nominal capacity.  The double wall tank design forms an interstitial (annular) space, which allows monitoring of leakage from the primary tank to prevent environmental contamination or unsafe operating conditions. With different sizes available, these aboveground storage tanks can contain up to 50,000 gallons of different liquids. BH Tank can design and engineer any configuration or capacity vessel for vented secondary containment aboveground storage of waste oil, solvents, antifreeze, diesel, and other liquid waste that requires secondary containment.
